Andy Willox was left with severe injuries following the accident  Andy Willox needed 48 stitches in his head and 20 above his eye A pedestrian has spoken of the “horrendous” moment he was nearly killed after being struck on the head by a radiator when it was thrown out of a window, leaving him with 68-stitches.Andy Willox was walking home in Hammersmith, London when a clad iron radiator was flung out of a nearby window and landed on his head. The account manager originally from South Africa said he is lucky to be alive after the incident which left him with 48 stitches in his head, 20 above his eye and a fractured neck. The 32-year-old has now spoke of how the freak accident has left him feeling “vulnerable” and wanting answers from those responsible. The object is believed to have been thrown from a residential building that is run by a charity that supports people with mental health needs and learning disabilities.  “You imagine bad things can happen, like getting in a car accident, or dangerous sports – but I never thought I’d be injured by someone throwing a radiator out of a window,” said Mr Willox.“When the police arrived and saw how much blood there was the policewoman said to me she thought I wouldn’t survive. I do keep thinking how much worse it could have been.  Mr Willox, who has now been discharged from hospital, is planning to travel back to Durban to see his parents. The couple added that following the accident they also intend to take legal action against “those responsible”.The charity who are believed to run the building were not able to comment. “This could have killed me, and I don’t want anyone else to have to go through this. There was a little girl walking behind me, just imagine if it had hit her.”The 32-year-old moved to London last year with his girlfriend of five and a half years Kimberly Dunstan-Smith.When Ms Dunstan-Smith was called by a stranger on May 13 telling her to rush to St Mary’s hospital, she revealed her first thought was that Mr Willox was dead. Andy Willox needed 48 stitches in his head and 20 above his eye Andy Willox was left with severe injuries following the accident  “The man on the phone didn’t say what had happened, just that he was unresponsive and had been hit over the head,” she said. “When I heard that honestly I thought he was dead. That is all that went through my mind that I’m going to have to live my life without him. “It was so scary I didn’t know what to expect, whether there was going to be brain damage, whether he was going to be in a wheelchair. It’s just a feeling of panic you can’t even describe. It was the most horrendous thing. “I thought ‘someone has changed his life forever, what am I going to do’ – especially with all our family living in South Africa.” The couple now intent to travel back to South Africa to see their family
