England goalkeeper trained with his Torino teammates for the first time on Wednesday and seemed already at ease He joked around during a practice game under bright sunshine and drew cheers from the stands when he dived to make his first save There was even time for a thumbs-up as he left the field to more adoration from about 400 fans The 29-year-old Hart who is on loan from Manchester City is expected to make his Serie A debut at Atalanta on Sunday “I am very happy and curious to see Hart in Serie A” said former Torino keeper Franco Tancredi England’s goalkeeping coach under Fabio Capello “For me he is the goalkeeper who is the most `Italian’ out of all the English the only one from the Premier League who could have made this jump” Traffic was brought to a standstill last week when club jersey with his name on the back More than a 100 of those shirts were sold in the first few hours Earlier this week Hart played in a World Cup qualifier for England against Slovakia on Monday He didn’t even face a shot but the question over his distribution capabilities remain after he miskicked his first clearance and played another one straight out of play Those are the reasons he was currently coaching but worked with Hart during three of his four years in charge was hesitant to criticize Guardiola but said the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona coach may have made the wrong decision “I don’t know why he decided that Every coach has his own ideas” Mancini said “At Torino Joe will be able to relaunch himself “Despite his age he will be able to improve further because our Oinam Anand) Top News THE ruling by the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) that led to a four-year ban on Narsingh Yadav on doping charges is a stinging indictment of the manner in which a hearing panel set up by India’s National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) cleared the wrestler for the Olympic Games in Rio by accepting his contention that he was a victim of “sabotage” The detailed report of the CAS hearing made public on Monday concluded that Narsingh “was doping not that he is a victim of sabotage” The three-member CAS panel also observed that Narsingh had “intentionally ingested the prohibited substance in tablet form on more than one occasion” The panel said that the hightest readings suggest that the banned substance was because of consuming “one or two tablets of methandienone rather than from a drink where the powder had been mixed with water” as Narsingh had claimed before the NADA panel Dismissing the sabotage theory of Narsingh and his battery of lawyers which was aggressively backed by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brijbhushan Saran and some top politicians CAS ruled: “The panel found (the) sabotage theory possible but not probable and certainly not grounded in any real evidence” WATCH: After Narsingh Yadav Dope Controversy CCTV Cameras In All SAI Regional Centres CAS’s findings are in complete contrast to what the NADA panel had concluded READ |Narsingh Yadav ingested drug as a tablet On August 1 NADA director general Naveen Agarwal announced that its three-member disciplinary panel had exonerated Narsingh on the basis of his clean past and the varying quantity of the drug found in the two samples that were collected from him on June 25 and July 5 And the panel said there was no fault of the wrestler while taking care of his food and water Agarwal supported the sabotage theory saying the NADA panel was convinced about it READ | Narsingh Yadav doping case: Story of half-truths and contradictions In fact the sabotage theory started gaining momentum even before the NADA panel’s hearing in Narsingh’s case began A day after the wrestler was found guilty of doping the WFI chief claimed that he had briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the situation and sought a quick resolution Saran even claimed there was “evidence” that Narsingh was being framed This was much before Haryana police could act on the allegations made by the Mumbai-based wrestler in his FIR Meanwhile in a letter to Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wrote: “There is a widespread belief that he (Narsingh) has been tricked or framed by some vested interests however it’s difficult to substantiate the same without proper investigation” The complete findings of the NADA hearing panel which was held behind closed doors has not yet been made public Even Narsingh’s lawyer received the NADA panel’s order only on Monday while the lawyer who represented NADA is yet to obtain it During the CAS hearing last week NADA — which ideally should play the role of prosecutor — questioned the jurisdiction of the sports court’s ad hoc panel which was set up primarily for the Rio Olympics India’s anti-doping watchdog argued that it should have been allowed to lodge an appeal before the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) which had taken the case to CAS and that the dope test on Narsingh had nothing to do with the Rio Games But WADA dismissed its arguments noting that NADA could have appealed first but did not do so before August 13 when the global agency made its plea to CAS It also pointed out that the NADA panel’s final decision on August 1 gave Narsingh the green signal to participate in the Rio Games which clearly linked it to the Olympics This was NADA’s only point of contention during the entire hearing NADA said it did not appeal Narsingh’s exoneration by its panel because it was waiting for the police investigation to be completed according to its director general Naveen Agarwal “There was an ongoing police investigation and we were waiting for the outcome before taking a decision to go for an appeal or not” Agarwal said on Monday During the hearing CAS relied largely on scientific evidence provided by sports medicine expert Christiane Ayotte who analysed the results of the two tests conducted on Narsingh and one on his roommate Sandeep Yadav who tested positive for the same substance too The analysis was performed at a WADA-accredited laboratory in Cologne using the same instruments that are used at the National Dope Testing Laboratory in Delhi Ayotte noted that there were “at least 12 to 20 hours difference between the ingestion of the prohibited substance” by Narsingh and Sandeep thus discrediting the theory that both had their drinks spiked during the same training session Narsingh’s primary defence to suggest sabotage was the failed dope test of his roommate WADA meanwhile has said that in case any evidence in relation to the sabotage theory is “rendered at a later stage by a criminal court in India then the decision could be reviewed by the Supreme Court in Switzerland” where CAS is based NADA on the mat Powder in accounts suddenly became active” and some 1200 accounts were opened many of which are “benami accounts…in the name of third persons or the account holders have only lent their names” The I-T department is probing the source of around Rs 120 crore deposited in the bank since demonetisation “It is suspected that most of this money was black money which has been deposited in third party accounts in connivance with… bank officials and routed back to the beneficiaries” alleged the department An FIR has been lodged at Darya Ganj police station Bank chairperson Rajesh Jain admitted that the I-T department had conducted raids at the bank’s premises and at vice-chairperson Pradeep Jain and director Shashank Jain’s homes but denied any wrongdoing “Total Rs 35 crore was converted How could it all be ours Public also deposited with us My money was not exchanged This is wrong” he said On the alleged benami accounts he said “There were nine fake accounts We have already identified them and suspended four officials…” On the opening of 1200 accounts and currency exchange Jain sought to lay the responsibility on the bank staff “The management is not involved in day-to-day working RBI guidelines are clear that the management cannot intervene (in daily functioning)” he said “There is no wrongdoing it’s negligence” he added On December 26 the investigative wing of the I-T department first conducted a search at the bank’s head office in Darya Ganj and four other branches “It is suspected that most of this currency exchange (Rs 35 crore) happened privately by members and staff in a clear violation of RBI guidelines” alleged the department adding that the entire staff of the bank right from the chairperson to the peon were involved in the exercise but a majority of the amount was exchanged by the management The I-T is also probing “benami accounts” since “in some of the accounts the signature of the introducer was found to be fake” “Money has also been deposited in more than 500 dormant accounts which have suddenly become active after demonetisation” alleged the department It also claimed that “CCTV footage was deliberately destroyed by the management For all Thursday Lefthander Jennings will replace teenager Haseeb Hameed who broke his little finger during England’s defeat in the third Test in Mohali and returned home to undergo surgery Jennings the son of South African former wicketkeeper and coach Ray arrived in India only on Monday after being called up from the England Lions squad in the United Arab Emirates “He’s going to play He’s going to open the batting and another great opportunity for a guy to come in and play” Cook told reporters adding he was reminded of his own debut in 2006 when he flew into India 48 hours ahead of the game and hit a century in Nagpur “He’s in good touch spending bit of time in the middle with the Lions getting hundreds and stuff Pretty special day for him tomorrow” The 24-year-old Jennings who scored six centuries for county side Durham last season is Cook’s 11th partner at the top of the order in the game’s longest format since the retirement of Andrew Strauss four years ago Cook said the frequent changes of his opening partner did not impact his own batting “It doesn’t really affect me” the 31-year-old said “You don’t just bat with your opening partner you bat with people at three four five as well “I will just make sure Keaton plays the way he wants to play keep him calm I suppose Obviously it’s disappointing about Has we obviously found a player there “But if Keaton comes in and does well again it’s just adding to our top-order players” Fast bowler Stuart Broad who suffered a foot injury during the second Test in Visakhapatnam and subsequently missed the game in Mohali was still doubtful for the Mumbai match Cook added The Wankhede Stadium overlooking the Arabian Sea has been a happy hunting ground for England who have won their last two Test matches against the hosts at the venue in 2012 and 2006 England made a strong start to the series in Rajkot when they made India fight hard in their second innings to eke out a draw but lost the next two Tests to trail 2-0 against the world’s number one Test side They drew lot of flak for defensive batting while chasing an improbable 405 to win the second Test and coach Trevor Bayliss said it was time for the side to show more positive intent “It’s a clear message I knew was coming out” Cook said “We do have to take that second innings in Vizag out of it where we played that way “But I wonder whether that did kind of tie into the third game and there was a bit of hangover and we did go back into our shells a bit “After chatting around a bit I think it was quite clear message that we wanted to play a little bit more Congress could get on its secularist high horse and denounce the communal enemies Fighting RSS is much more fun (and vote winning) than battling the real enemy Alasthe reality is that Pakistan can quasi-officially mount these atrocities as the whole saga of Headley and Rana proved in a Chicago court On the Indian sidethe effectiveness in fighting these actions is still weak We know from the numerous CBI attempts to apprehend foreign conspirators that when push comes to shovethe CBI would have papers out of datethe culprit will escape and the MEA will end up writing strong notes to foreign governments who will promptly put them in the bin where they rightfully belong Why is the Indian State so soft Why is the Indian government so concerned with settling internal political forensic science With 26/11there was an element of surprise There can be no such excuse now India has had ample notice Nothing has been done to learn any lesson from the fact that Headley had a free run of the countryand no agency in India spotted him till the Americans nabbed him Somebody should have resigned for thisbut then hundreds dying is not an issue since no vote bank is affected by this This will happen again Some Lashkar or jihad group primed by Pakistani money (sad to say) thanks to American dollars will attack India again Our local leaders will worry that it should not lead to communal tension and then forget about the whole thing since there are no votes in Pakistani atrocities Even more than the nuances of the Lok Pal Bill (which will be diluted and rendered ineffective
