Fonseka given MSD security

Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunawardhana had told Parliament last May that a request had not been put forward by Fonseka seeking security from the government following his release from prison. UNP parliamentarian Palitha Range Bandara had said last month that Fonseka was concerned about his security and was going to make a request for security from the government through his associates .The UNP MP said that as a former Army commander who led the military during the final war against the LTTE, Fonseka is entitled to security. Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka has been provided security from the Ministerial Security Division (MSD) by the government.Fonseka told reporters at a blood donation campaign in Etul Kotte today that he has been given 15 MSD officers for security. However he was not satisfied with the security and said he needs more based on the security threats he faces as the former army chief. (Report by Indika Sri Aravinda for the Colombo Gazette) read more
